The village’s power to levy this hotel tax ends two years after the law takes effect. After that date, the village cannot charge this tax unless the state extends the law.

Croton-on-Hudson can charge a local hotel or motel tax. The village sets the rate, up to 3% of the nightly room price. It applies to rooms or suites rented to overnight guests, including bed-and-breakfasts. This is in addition to other taxes. Hotels collect the tax as part of the bill and send it to the village.
