Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Hotel tax authority ends after two years

The village’s power to levy this hotel tax ends two years after the law takes effect. After that date, the village cannot charge this tax unless the state extends the law.

No hotel tax after 90 days

If you stay 90 straight days in a hotel or motel, you are a permanent resident. The local nightly hotel tax does not apply to permanent residents.

Overnight visitors pay Croton hotel tax

Croton-on-Hudson can charge a local hotel or motel tax. The village sets the rate, up to 3% of the nightly room price. It applies to rooms or suites rented to overnight guests, including bed-and-breakfasts. This is in addition to other taxes. Hotels collect the tax as part of the bill and send it to the village.
