The law lets the Town of Ithaca stop using an 8.33-acre park and allow farming there. Before any change, the town must set aside another 8.33-acre parcel as new parkland that was never used as a park. If the new park is smaller or worth less, the town must spend the difference to buy more parkland or improve parks. If federal money ever helped the old park, the town must meet federal replacement rules first, including equal value and usefulness. The town board sets the terms for the change.
