Produce businesses: new security fund fee rules

The law changes when the state collects the produce security fund fee. Each year, on the 120th day before the next license year, if the fund is over $6,000,000, the commissioner suspends the fee for that year. Collection continues if the commissioner has reason to believe pending claims will drop the fund below $6,000,000. Collection also continues if inflation has cut the fund’s real protection compared with the level expected when fees are suspended. This takes effect immediately.
