More Help Finding Volunteer Roles for Veterans

Starting 90 days after enactment, New York’s Department of Veterans’ Services must post volunteer opportunities for veterans on its website. These include roles with the Department, volunteer fire departments, and emergency services providers. Qualified veterans can use forms on its employment portal to apply or request more information. Local veterans’ service agencies must help New York resident service members, veterans, and their families find these opportunities. This help does not guarantee a role or payment. The law allows immediate rulemaking, which must be completed by the effective date.
