Money to keep unemployment checks flowing

Beginning April 1, 2025, the state provides $6 billion for unemployment benefits and $8 billion for the UI clearing account. Benefits pay eligible unemployed workers under state law and federal programs like disaster unemployment assistance. This keeps unemployment checks funded during the year.

Grants to community health nonprofits

Starting April 1, 2025, the Department of Health funds named health nonprofits. United Way of New York City gets $5.9 million, plus $1 million for its Preventative Care Access Initiative. Other groups get $50,000 to $100,000 to provide community health services.

More funding for local diaper banks

Beginning April 1, 2025, the state provides $1.5 million to National Diaper Banks to support local partners. Named groups such as Cares and Central New York Diaper Bank receive set amounts to buy and give out diapers. Low‑income parents can get diapers through these local banks.

Pilots help working families get child care

Beginning April 1, 2025, the state funds two pilots to enroll working families in child care aid. Families must have income at or below 85% of the state median. The New York City pilot, run by the Consortium for Worker Education, gets $1.25 million. The outside‑NYC pilot, run by the AFL‑CIO Workforce Development Institute, gets $600,000. OCFS provides technical help and can withhold payments or end a pilot for mismanagement. Projects must send quarterly summaries and a full report by January 1, 2026.

Support for underserved community groups

Beginning April 1, 2025, the state provides $90 million for the Underserved Communities and Civic Engagement Program. The money is split among named groups, such as Asian American Federation ($15 million) and Hispanic Federation ($15 million). Funds support programs like community support, housing help, education, workforce training, and health services.
