Courts can shield juror identities

The law lets a court keep juror names and home or work addresses confidential for a set time. The order can block sharing this info with anyone other than the lawyers in the case. The court must find good cause. It may consider past juror bribery, tampering, injury, or harassment by the defendant or their agents, the seriousness of the charges (including large criminal enterprise cases), and how much pretrial publicity exists. Either party, any affected person, or the court itself can seek the order. The law takes effect on the same date as the 2024 chapter that updates jury protective orders.
