Hygienists can treat in foster care facilities

Registered dental hygienists can now provide dental hygiene care inside licensed voluntary foster care agency health facilities. They must work under a collaborative agreement with a licensed dentist. In approved settings like hospitals, schools, and clinics listed in state law, hygienists can also do supportive services under a dentist’s direct supervision or under a collaborative arrangement. Rules that require a dentist’s personal supervision for certain tasks still apply.
