Training for child care oversight staff

OCFS and local staff who register, license, or inspect child care homes and programs must get training. It covers OCFS rules, child abuse prevention and identification, safety in child care, child development, and laws that protect children from abuse or maltreatment. Staff also receive guidance to spot signs that controlled substances may be present and when to refer cases to law enforcement. The start date matches the effective date of the 2025 state law on similar training. Training is provided as funds are appropriated.
