Drug-warning training for child-care oversight staff

The law updates training for state children-and-family-services staff and municipal staff who register, license, or inspect child-care settings. Training must cover signs that controlled substances may be present and referrals to law enforcement. This replaces the earlier requirement to recognize the presence of controlled substances. The training requirement depends on money appropriated for it; the law provides no specific funding amount. The act takes effect immediately, but the training changes follow the related 2025 law’s effective date and terms. The effective-date provisions also specify a 180-day delay after enactment for the training amendments.
