Fluke fishing rules extended to 2029

This law takes effect now and lets the Department of Environmental Conservation set rules for summer flounder (fluke) through December 31, 2029. It can set size and catch limits; seasons and closed areas; gear and effort rules; permits and recordkeeping; and transport, possession, and sale rules. Commercial fishermen, dealers, and recreational anglers must follow these limits and permit rules. The rules must be at least as strict as existing state requirements. They must also match Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission plans and the federal Magnuson-Stevens Act.
