Winter flounder fishing rules extended

New York’s environmental agency keeps authority to manage winter flounder through December 31, 2029. DEC can set size and catch limits, seasons, and closed areas. It can require permits and recordkeeping, and set gear, landing, transport, possession, and sale rules. Any rules must be at least as strict as state law and match Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and federal fishery plans. The law takes effect now.
