Park protections and lease money rules
All money from the lease must be used to buy new parkland or improve parks and recreation facilities. If the land stops being used for the solar project or chargers, the lease ends. The land returns to public park use, the equipment is removed, and the site is restored. If the town used federal funds on this park, it must meet federal rules first, including providing replacement land of equal value and usefulness.
Greenburgh can lease parkland for solar, chargers
The town of Greenburgh can discontinue park use on about 3.91 acres (170,337 sq. ft.). It can lease this land to HESP Solar LLC to build a solar array and electric vehicle charging stations. The lease must be at fair market value and can last up to 25 years. The town board sets the lease terms.
