Rules and fines for sellers and daycares

The Office of Children and Family Services must issue rules for the daycare walker ban. They must notify every child care program and new applicants in plain language. The Attorney General can sue to stop illegal sales after at least five days' notice. Courts can order restitution. They can fine up to $500 for each unlawful sale. Each sale counts as a separate violation. The Attorney General can issue subpoenas. The law takes effect 90 days after enactment.

No infant walker sales or daycare use

The law bans selling or leasing infant walkers anywhere in New York. Child care facilities cannot use them or keep them on site. A medical professional can allow one only if it is medically necessary for a specific child. These rules begin 90 days after enactment.
