Parks promote local farmers markets

The state parks office promotes farmers markets in state parks. It posts market locations and hours on its website, looks to add markets at more parks, and works with Empire State Development and the Agriculture and Markets Department. Promotion happens only if a market does not harm the park or its natural environment. Markets must sell farm and food products defined in state law section 260. The law takes effect immediately. Local farmers and vendors may get more places to sell, and shoppers get easier access to local food.
