Beginning October 1 after enactment, New York expands its statewide registry of protective orders. Courts that issue non‑family offense orders can direct the clerk to file them in the registry when needed to carry out the order. The registry also includes extreme risk protection orders, so police and courts can find them in one place. This helps officers confirm active orders and related warrants and act on them across the state.
