East Syracuse can appoint nonresident justice

The law lets the East Syracuse village board, by resolution, allow a nonresident to serve as village justice or associate justice. The person must live in the Town of DeWitt in Onondaga County. This authority applies only if the board passes the resolution. Other villages still require resident justices unless state law says otherwise. The act takes effect immediately.
