The law authorizes Otsego County to impose an extra 1% local sales and use tax on top of the 3% base. The authorization runs from December 1, 2003 through November 30, 2027. Shoppers pay this added tax on taxable purchases in the county when a county local law imposes it. The act takes effect immediately.
