Carpet makers get legal shield for recycling

The law protects carpet makers, producer groups, and retailers from antitrust lawsuits when they follow a state‑approved recycling plan. The protection only applies to steps needed to collect and recycle more carpet, including what is collected and how the program is run and paid for. It does not cover deals that set carpet prices, limit how much is made, or restrict where or to whom carpet is sold, except when narrowly needed to meet the law’s producer duties. The law takes effect immediately.
