Pharmacies must give 30-day closure notice

The law requires any New York pharmacy that is closing for good to give at least 30 days’ notice. The pharmacy must try to contact customers who filled a prescription there in the last year using the customer’s main contact method (phone, email, or mail). It must also post a clear notice where prescriptions are dropped off or picked up, or in the waiting area. The notice must include the closing date; the names, addresses, and phone numbers of the five nearest pharmacies (including independent ones, if any); how to transfer your prescriptions; and what happens to your records if you do not transfer them before closing. This requirement took effect 60 days after the law became law.
