You pay an extra 1% county sales and use tax on taxable purchases made in Chemung County. This is on top of the 3% base county rate, for a total county rate of 4%. The authorization runs from December 1, 2002 through November 30, 2027. Vendors in Chemung County must collect and remit the extra 1%. The law takes effect immediately.
