Chemung County’s extra sales tax authority extended
Effective immediately, the law extends Chemung County’s extra 1% sales and use tax authority from November 30, 2025, through November 30, 2027. The extra tax sits on top of the allowed 3% local rate, for a total local rate of 4%. The county must adopt or amend a local law, ordinance, or resolution to impose it. Where imposed, buyers pay the extra tax on taxable purchases and uses. No other counties are affected.
