Schoharie County’s extra sales tax authority extended

Effective immediately, the law extends Schoharie County’s authority to charge an extra 1% sales and use tax. The authorized period runs from June 1, 2004, through November 30, 2027. The maximum county rate remains 4%: the base 3% plus the extra 1%. To impose the extra tax, the county must adopt or amend a local law, ordinance, or resolution. When the county imposes it, shoppers pay the extra tax on taxable purchases.
