Effective immediately, the law extends Schoharie County’s power to impose its mortgage recording tax. The authority now ends December 1, 2027, instead of December 1, 2025. Households recording obligations secured by mortgages on real property face this tax only if the county imposes it. The law does not create a new tax or change tax rates.
