Requires the board of elections in a city with a population of one million or more to provide certain notices prior to a change of polling place

New York City officials get polling-place notices

Effective immediately upon enactment, the law adds polling-place notice rules for cities with at least 1 million people—New York City. After learning that a designated polling place needs to move, the elections board must mail notices within five days. Notices go to all state party chairs and all county party chairs in the county containing the polling place. They also go to State Assembly members, State Senators, City Council members, and Assembly district leaders representing the location or voters assigned there. Where Assembly district leaders represent only parts of a district, the same rule applies to those parts. Existing voter notice rules remain: after mailing voters their assigned polling place, the board must mail any location change at least five days before the next election or registration day. If mailing is not possible, the board must provide another form of notice at the old polling place.
