Assaulted healthcare staff can give statements at work

Beginning 120 days after this law became effective, if you were assaulted at your workplace, you can choose to give your statement at work. This applies only if the assault happened at your workplace and it is a hospital, emergency medical facility, nursing home, residential health care facility, or a mental hygiene facility or hospital defined in state law. Police must tell you about this option when they have reason to believe an assault covered by Penal Law §120.05 occurred and your workplace is one of these facilities.
