The law authorizes Niagara County to add a 1% sales and use tax on top of its 3% county rate. This authority runs from March 1, 2003 through November 30, 2027. The county must pass a local law to keep charging it. When in effect, buyers in Niagara County pay the extra 1% on taxable purchases, and sellers collect and send it in.
