From December 1, 2025 through November 30, 2027, Steuben County shares net collections from the extra 1% tax. Each year it pays $900,000 to Hornell and $900,000 to Corning. It also sets aside $900,000 for the towns and villages. Each town's share matches its share of total property value. These payments come only from the net collections of the extra 1% tax.
Steuben County adds an extra 1% sales and use tax. It applies to taxable purchases made in the county. The authorization runs through November 30, 2027. You pay this on top of other sales taxes.
