Madison County extra sales tax authority extended

The law extends Madison County’s extra 1% sales and use tax authority from November 30, 2025, through November 30, 2027. This authority began June 1, 2004, and allows a 4% total county rate: 3% base plus 1% extra. The county must adopt or amend a local law, ordinance, or resolution to impose the extra tax. The extension itself does not impose the tax; when imposed, it adds to the cost of taxable purchases. The law takes effect immediately.
