Colleges must accept online diplomas

Colleges must treat certain online high school graduates as eligible to apply. The online program must be in the United States, have over 10,000 national completions a year, and be accredited under paragraph four of appendix 302 of the Job Corps handbook. This rule overrides any conflicting law or regulation. Community college boards, including in New York City, must adopt policies and set standards that follow this rule. The law takes effect 90 days after enactment, and boards can adopt needed rules before that date.

State aid for U.S. online diplomas

State financial aid now recognizes certain online high school diplomas. For anyone who first receives state aid in academic year 2007–2008 or later, an eligible online diploma counts toward the high school requirement. The diploma must be from an online high school in the United States and accredited under paragraph four of appendix 302 of the Job Corps handbook.
