Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Sales tax aid for towns and villages

Nassau County keeps its local government assistance program through 2027. Towns and cities receive one‑third of the 0.75% sales tax revenue, split per person using the latest census. Villages may get up to one‑sixth of the remaining funds, also per person. A town can send its share to a special district. The aid is meant to reduce property taxes and fund waste and environmental programs.

Extra county sales tax stays through 2027

Nassau County can keep two extra sales tax rates on top of its 3% base rate. The extra rates are 0.75% and 0.5%. This authorization runs through November 30, 2027. Shoppers may continue to pay these local add‑ons at checkout while they are in effect.

Hotel and ticket surcharges stay through 2027

Nassau County keeps its hotel and motel tax through December 31, 2027. The county also keeps a surcharge on tickets to places of entertainment through that date. This law extends the time these charges can apply; it does not set new rates. Guests and ticket buyers may keep paying these local charges until the end of 2027.
