Support for Coldenham volunteer firefighters

The law creates the Volunteer and Exempt Firefighter's Benevolent Association of Coldenham, Inc. You can join if you are now, were, or will be an active volunteer of the Coldenham fire company. People with exempt volunteer firefighter status are also eligible. Anyone expelled from any fire department cannot join. Membership ends if your active Coldenham service ends before you gain exempt status. The group may aid disabled, indigent, or injured volunteers and their families, support health and safety, keep a headquarters, run social events, and promote the local volunteer fire service. Membership is governed by the association’s by‑laws.

Insurance taxes fund Coldenham fire group

The association collects foreign fire insurance taxes on policies for property in the Coldenham fire district. This district covers parts of Newburgh and Montgomery in Orange County, New York. It also gets a share based on insurance business written in that area. Officers who collect the money have the same powers as fire department treasurers. All money must support the association’s stated purposes. These rules apply to premiums received on or after January 1, 2026.
