Montgomery County, NY charges an extra 1% sales and use tax. This is on top of the county’s base 3% rate, for a total county rate of 4%. The authorization runs from June 1, 2003 through November 30, 2027. If you buy a taxable item or service in the county, you pay this extra 1%. Businesses that make taxable sales in the county must collect it.
