Rensselaer County’s extra sales tax authority extended
The law extends Rensselaer County’s authority to charge an extra 1% sales and use tax. That authority now ends November 30, 2027, instead of November 30, 2025. The extra tax requires a county law, ordinance, or resolution; this law does not itself impose it. With the existing 3% base rate, the maximum local rate remains 4%, not including state taxes. The extension takes effect immediately upon enactment.
