The law waives the local residency rule for the Putnam County Attorney. A lawyer admitted to practice in New York who lives in a county that borders Putnam County can hold this job. They do not have to live inside Putnam County. Other counties still require their county attorneys to live in that county unless another law says otherwise. This change takes effect immediately.
