Authorizes the county of Tompkins to offer an optional twenty year retirement plan to Kyle Davenport, a deputy sheriff employed by such county

20-year retirement plan option for Kyle Davenport

This law gives Kyle Davenport a path to full deputy-service credit and benefits in the state's 20-year retirement plan. Eligibility requires employment as a Tompkins County deputy sheriff on May 8, 2017, and membership in the 25-year plan. His missed application when promoted must have been through no fault of his own. The county must choose to cover the added cost within one year after the law's effective date. It must file a resolution with the state comptroller and certify that Davenport's own negligence did not bar his participation. Davenport must request coverage from the comptroller within 18 months after the law's effective date. Tompkins County pays all added employer costs for past service and can spread payments over five years. The law took effect immediately.
