The law lets Daniel H. Austic, a Trumansburg police officer, choose the 20-year police retirement plan. To do this, the Village of Trumansburg must file a resolution with the State Comptroller within one year of this law taking effect and certify he was not barred by his own negligence. After the village files, he must also file his request with the Comptroller within one year of the law’s effective date. He then receives full credit and all rights under the 20-year plan.
The law requires the Village of Trumansburg to pay all past service costs to put this change into effect. The State and the named officer do not pay these costs.
