Authorizes the village of Trumansburg to offer an optional twenty-year retirement plan to a certain formerly employed police officer

Twenty-year pension option for former Trumansburg officer

This law takes effect immediately and gives former Trumansburg officer Daniel H. Austic access to a special 20-year retirement plan. He can receive full credit for his Trumansburg service and the plan’s full rights and benefits. Austic was appointed December 16, 2010, and entered the section 375-i plan through no fault of his own. The village must choose to pay the added costs, including all past-service costs. It must file a local legislative resolution with the State Comptroller within one year after the law takes effect. It must also certify that Austic did not lose access to the special plan through his own negligence. After the village elects coverage, Austic must request it from the State Comptroller within that same one-year window. The fiscal note estimates $3,090 in past-service costs, expected to be paid around February 1, 2026. It also estimates $550 in added village contributions for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. Future costs vary with billing rates and Austic’s salary.
