The law creates a cannabis showcase event permit for licensed adult‑use cannabis retailers. You can sell and display cannabis off‑site with at least one New York cultivator and one New York processor, at authorized pop‑ups, farmers’ markets, or public markets. Only the permit holder may complete sales at the event. You must offer products from the partners named on your permit, and you may sell other products too. At multi‑permittee events, each permit holder needs its own cultivator partner and may list no more than one processor for each cultivator.
The Cannabis Control Board sets permit fees for showcase events. Fees can vary by event size, length, or other factors. Permit holders must file sales reports and follow all rules. If you fail to comply, you can face fees, fines, or other penalties. The Board writes the detailed procedures by regulation.
Each event needs its own permit, and each retail licensee needs its own permit. One permit cannot cover more than one event at the same time. A showcase permit lasts no more than 14 days. These rules add extra applications and can mean more permit fees if you run many or longer events.
Regulators can start and finish needed rules right away. Parts of the law take effect 120 days after enactment. Section one starts on the same date as a related 2024 law that authorizes showcase permits. This staggers when different pieces start so the program can be ready.
