Baxter Estates can hire nonresident clerks

The law lets the Baxter Estates board allow nonresidents to serve as village clerk-treasurer or deputy clerk. The board must pass a resolution to use this option. They must live in Nassau County or a New York county that adjoins it. This rule applies only to Baxter Estates. In other villages, these officers must live in that village unless another law says otherwise.
