The law lets Heath A. Wadhams, a part-time Palmyra police officer, take the competitive civil service exam. Despite state age limits for police hires, he can be placed on the eligible list if his score qualifies. He must have been continuously employed as a part-time officer with the Village of Palmyra. He still must meet all merit and fitness rules for full-time police officers. This act takes effect immediately.
