Heath A. Wadhams has worked continuously as a part-time police officer for the village of Palmyra in Wayne County. Effective immediately, he can take the police officer civil service exam despite age limits or other conflicting laws. A qualifying score makes him eligible for the list used to appoint full-time Palmyra police officers. He remains subject to the civil service merit and fitness rules for full-time officers. The law does not guarantee him a job.
