Authorizes the city of Yonkers to alienate and discontinue the use of certain parklands

Yonkers parkland sale requires replacement parkland

The law takes effect immediately and lets Yonkers sell 10,535 square feet of parkland to St. John’s Riverside Hospital. The sale must be at fair market value to restore the Untermyer estate’s Color Gardens for residents and visitors. Before ending park use or selling, Yonkers must dedicate a specified 19,840-square-foot replacement parcel as parkland. That parcel must not have served as public open space or parkland since the 1960 parkland sale authorization. If the replacement land is worth less, Yonkers must cover the difference by buying parkland or improving existing parks and recreation facilities. If federal money supported the affected parkland, Yonkers must meet federal requirements before ending park use or selling. This includes approval from the Secretary of the Interior that replacement land has equal fair market value and usefulness.
