The law sets how New York City can hold a vehicle’s owner liable for certain speed‑limit violations in school zones. Cases are decided using the process in section 1180‑b of state law. Older, conflicting clauses from 2013 are repealed. This owner‑liability rule remains in effect through July 1, 2030.
The law extends parts of New York City’s school speed‑camera program to July 1, 2030. Cameras in school speed zones keep operating under the same rules. Drivers can still get camera tickets in these zones until that date.
