New gas customers pay connection costs
Effective immediately, New York utilities and municipalities must provide gas service to buildings that do not already have it. The Public Service Commission must require applicants to pay, or agree in writing to pay, connection costs. These costs cover materials and installation for pipes or other facilities needed to provide service. The law does not set a dollar amount.
