Wayne County can keep extra 1% sales tax

The law authorizes Wayne County to impose an extra 1% local sales and use tax on top of its 3% rate. This authority applies from December 1, 2005 through November 30, 2027. If Wayne County has adopted the local law, you pay 1% more on taxable purchases made in the county. Businesses must collect and remit the higher rate while it is in effect.
