Veteran volunteer guidance expands, form guarantees end

New York’s veterans department must post website information about volunteer opportunities, including local volunteer fire departments and emergency services providers. It must consult state fire and health offices on how best to share useful information. Local veterans’ service agencies must help veterans and their families find these opportunities when information is available. This guidance no longer includes volunteer roles at the state veterans department, and posting application forms is no longer required. These changes take effect alongside, and in the same manner as, the related 2025 law identified by S. 274-B and A. 8485.
