NYC: No tickets for Friday 3 p.m. trash

The NYC Department of Sanitation cannot issue a ticket, notice, or summons only for set-out time when trash or recycling is put out after 3:00 p.m. on Friday. This applies only in areas that have Saturday collection and where the local community board voted to allow early Friday set-out. The Department must put a board’s request into effect within 30 days of the vote. The Department can still set and enforce rules on how items are placed for pickup, and you must follow those rules.
