Police candidates face removal from hiring lists
Police hiring authorities can request removal of candidates from eligible hiring lists, even when other laws conflict. They must determine that a candidate fails psychological fitness requirements or lacks the required good moral character. These standards come from the Municipal Police Training Council. The local civil service commissioner must remove the candidate right away when asked. The law took effect immediately upon enactment.
