Beginning July 1, 2026, Oklahoma public school districts grant teachers and support staff three paid days off after a spouse or child dies. The rule includes miscarriage. These bereavement days are on top of any sick leave for miscarriage and recovery. Local contracts that give more paid leave still apply.
Beginning July 1, 2026, the state creates a revolving fund to reimburse districts for paid maternity and bereavement leave. The State Board of Education uses state appropriations to pay approved claims. Districts must file claims to get repaid. Payments depend on approved claims and available funds.
