New licensing rules for Oklahoma abstractors

To get an Oklahoma abstractor license, you must be 18 or older and of good moral character. You cannot have been convicted of or pleaded guilty or no contest to a felony, a crime of moral turpitude, or another disqualifying offense that relates to abstracting or public safety in Oklahoma, another state, or federal court. You must also pass the Board’s abstractor test. The Board must deny a license if you lack legal work authorization, are not living in the U.S., or are not physically present in the U.S. These rules take effect November 1, 2026.

Annual license and fee cap for abstractors

An Oklahoma abstractor license is valid for one year. You must renew each year. The Board cannot charge more than $150 for a license or a renewal. These rules take effect November 1, 2026.
