2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

More help for well cleanup costs

A state remediation fund can now pay up to $25,000 per site. It helps clean up wells, boreholes, or pumps that risk polluting groundwater and are not up to code or are abandoned. The Board pays the lower of your actual cleanup cost or $25,000. This change takes effect November 1, 2026.

New fund and fee rules for drillers

Licensed well drillers and pump installers pay into a state remediation fund. The law raises the fund’s target balance to $100,000. Until it reaches $100,000, fees and recovered money go to that fund. After that, new fees, reimbursements, and penalties go to a regulation account for inspections, licensing, enforcement, education, and council travel. The law does not set new fee amounts. These changes take effect November 1, 2026.
