4 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 2 costs, 2 mixed.
Beginning July 1, 2026, providers approved by the State Board must meet strict rules. They must show financial stability, secure records, strong training, assessments, and mentoring. Providers must report outcomes after one year and every year after. The Board can suspend or revoke approval after notice and a chance to fix problems. The Board may set detailed rules by regulation.
Beginning July 1, 2026, the State Board runs new routes to become a teacher. Approved programs let you show skills in class or through past work, evaluations, or industry certificates. If you finish an approved program, meet state rules in Section 6-187, and get a provider recommendation, you are eligible for a certificate. To get the certificate, you must have current state and national background checks on file, and you pay those costs.
The pilot for these new certification routes ends no later than July 1, 2026. This limits how long candidates can use the pilot path unless the law changes.
The act declares an emergency, making it effective upon passage and approval. The general effective date in the act is July 1, 2026.
