New oath and process for replacement electors

Beginning November 1, 2026, Oklahoma sets a clear process to fill a vacant Presidential Elector seat. If an elector does not meet at the Governor’s office at the set time, or refuses or fails to vote for the party’s nominees, the electors who are present pick a replacement. The appointee must swear to vote for the appointee’s political party’s nominees for President and Vice President. The Governor or a designee must witness the oath. The signed oath must be filed with the Secretary of State.
