Out-of-state ambulances allowed in emergencies

Beginning November 1, 2026, a licensed, in‑good‑standing ground ambulance from another state may respond in Oklahoma when no local licensed service is readily available. Requests must come through an Oklahoma emergency dispatch center. The Health Department can require records from the out‑of‑state service and can investigate complaints like it does for in‑state providers. The Board may exempt these responders from Oklahoma licensing under its rules.

Stronger enforcement of ambulance safety rules

Beginning November 1, 2026, only compliant providers may run ambulance services in Oklahoma. The Health Commissioner, the Attorney General, or a county district attorney can ask a court to stop illegal operations, which are declared a public nuisance. The Commissioner can suspend or revoke licenses, put services on probation, require free public service or training, and issue fines up to $100 per day per violation. These actions follow the state’s administrative procedures.
